Spring 2012 Interns
Amanda Reid
Amanda is a senior at Texas State University majoring in Recreation Administration. Living in San Marcos she gained a love of rivers and all of the recreational activities that involve water. She hopes to educate others on the importance of water conservation to insure a future where everyone can enjoy the rivers as she has.
Andy Pinon
I am pursuing a degree in Pediatric Nursing and one day, I hope to work abroad providing medical care to underprivileged communities. Through my own experience, I have found that to enjoy what the outdoors can provide to us, will inspire an initiative for environmental preservation. Once we have connected to nature can we truly discover our love and obligation to care for it <3
Laura Gamboa
Laura is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences. Being a passionate runner, she values the outdoor trails and nature that surround the Colorado River in Austin. Laura hopes to incorporate her knowledge in human development and developmentally appropriate practices with young children to assist the CRF in their educational programs. She is also eager to learn more about water conservation and the dynamics of a non-profit organization to further aid in her professional development.
Tara Mays
Tara is a graduating senior at the University of Texas majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences. Tara has developed appreciation for Lady Bird Lake by running along its trails for many years. She also loves to take her two dogs to the dog park down by the lake to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. She wants to be involved in supporting the fundraising efforts for the Colorado River Foundation this spring.
Connor Huff
Connor is a graduating senior at Southwestern University, who is studying Philosophy. He grew up on the water, and loves white water rafting, sailing, and pretty much all boating in general. Connor is passionate about water conservation issues, and wants to learn more about how social media can be employed to strengthen efforts to conserve our river.
Kate Castles
Kate is a graduating senior at Southwestern University majoring in Environmental Studies with a passion for the outdoors. Having grown up in Austin, she has a heartfelt connection to the natural environment around the Colorado River.
