I’ve joined the Colorado River Foundation in running the Livestrong Austin Marathon (I’m running the Half Marathon) on February 20, 2011, because I believe this organization has the potential to positively impact every person along this vital waterway in Texas. As an environmental scientist, I think of the Colorado River as one of Texas’ major arteries, a lifeline which delivers water and sustenance to the communities that surround it, from the High Plains to the Gulf of Mexico. Every day, the Colorado River Foundation is doing their part as stewards of the river to help protect this natural resource by establishing and supporting projects that educate and stimulate awareness in our community about the importance of this dynamic and diverse riparian ecosystem. They also actively involve the community, especially the youth of our community, in taking a personal role in protecting the Colorado River through fun, exciting and educational outdoor recreation and natural science programs.
That’s why I’m supporting this amazing community organization by running over 13 miles in the Austin Half Marathon.
Thank you for your generous support and I’ll see you at the finish line!
