Family Water Festival

More about the Festival:

Join over 1,000 Austinites  for this free community event to learn about the Colorado River and water conservation.  Fun, hands-on activities, presentations, and booths by local non-profits.

Festival activities include science experiments, fishing and kayak clinics, reptile and river bug shows, arts and crafts,  games, water safety tips, face painting, REI photo booth, and much more.  This year’s event will also include the Colorado River Ramble Awards Ceremony, lots of door prizes, ‘green’ vendors, and live music provided by local musicians on the beautiful grounds of the Wilkerson Center.

Performance Schedule

Dowser Dan Show - 11:00 am & 1:30 pm

Austin Water Utility’s, Dowser Dan teaches kids where our water comes from and ways to conserve water through song and performance.  Join in on the fun!

Puppet Show by Hey Lolly - 11:30 am, 12:30 pm & 2:30 pm

Join the Hey Lollies for Sal Amander’s Tail of the Spring -  an exciting 10 minute puppet show about Austin water sources & water conservation!

Saving Water for Wildlife – 11:00 & 11:30 am

Texas Parks & Wildlife previews this 8 minute video about our watery wildlife & a fun art activity!                   

Backyard Composting – 12 pm

Austin Resource Recovery shows how easy backyard composting can be! Get tips & learn about the City’s rebate program. First 30 participants get a free composting pail for your home!

Texas Water Snakes - Adaptations of Aquatic Vertebrates2 pm

Come meet native Austin snakes & watch them slither!
