Volunteer with the Colorado River Foundation and promote educational awareness, appreciation, and stewardship of the Colorado River. Become an intern, a docent for our educational programs, help us with river clean ups, or take part in one of our community events.

Internship Opportunities
CRF has internships available for the fall, spring and summer terms. Internships are unpaid but are available for academic credit. Interns are expected to commit at least 15 hours a week.
Environmental Education Intern
Educational Interns assist with the planning, development and management of student educational programs including field trips and classroom materials. Programs teach water conservation, geography and geology of the Colorado River in Texas, aspects of a healthy watershed and water quality assessment. Interns are instrumental in the development and implementation of new curriculum and programming.
Interns needed Tuesday – Friday during regular business hours.
Fundraising Intern
Assist in executing CRF’s fundraising plan including donor development and appreciation, special events, database management and grant writing.
Marketing & Communications Intern
Marketing volunteers assist with all forms of communications and promotion including press releases, Facebook and Twitter, developing marketing collateral in cooperation with graphic designers, generating e-newsletter, maintaining website, and developing media lists and press kits.

Community and Special Events Intern
Participate in the Foundation’s community events and fundraisers – including clean ups, river races, banquets, festivals, and speaking events. Help includes sponsorship solicitat
ion and graphic design to creating decorations, event set up and more. The best part – most of these events occur in the evening or on the weekends – perfect for someone with a busy work schedule.
Qualifications: If you have a keen eye for detail, thrive on juggling multiple deadlines, love to plan, plan, plan and can take an idea and run with it, this might be the perfect internship for you! Please keep in mind that this internship will require you to be highly organized, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, and have strong communication skills.
Grant Writing Interns
Write and edit grant proposals, reports, and letters of inquiry, and research, organize, and analyze grant proposals.

Graphic Design Intern
Assist with communications and brand development. Produce high-quality print and electronic marketing materials for CRF. Materials include fliers, logo development, and event banners and invites. Great opportunity to build your portfolio.

Volunteer Opportunities
Environmental Education Docents
Docents work as a team to deliver fun, informative lessons to students during field trips – all outside on the natural grounds of the Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education. Hands-on experiments educate students about concepts including hydrology, groundwater, urban watersheds, water quality, water protection, and water conservation.
Tuesday – Friday during regular business hours, 4 hour commitment twice
Community and Special Event Volunteers
Participate in the Foundation’s community events and fundraisers – including clean ups, gardening days, river races, banquets, festivals, and speaking events. The best part – most of these events occur in the evening or on the weekends – perfect for someone with a busy work schedule.
Foundation Office Support
Support volunteers prepare educational materials, research grants, prepare for special events, and provide administrative support. A great way to learn how a nonprofit works!
Monday through Friday, regular business hours.
Green Gardening Volunteers
Assist in the maintenance of native gardens that are used during our educational programs. No gardening experience necessary. Garden days occur once a month on Saturdays.
