Friends of Dowser Dan

A NEW interactive program for K-2nd grade

The program

For more than 30 years, Dowser Dan provided elementary students with valuable lessons about water and the importance of conservation. Now, in collaboration with Austin Water, we are delighted to bring you Friends of Dowser Dan—an interactive program with delightful characters, bright colors, and approachable TEKS-based lessons for our youngest stewards.

This free 40-minute educational assembly program for K–2nd graders uses amusing characters and engaging music to introduce your students to the importance of conserving and protecting our water resources. An “edu-taining” experience, students learn concepts to preserve the vitality of the Texas Colorado River and its ecosystem.

Join the Friends of Dowser Dan to celebrate his legacy and continue his mission.

Colorado River Alliance’s Friends of Dowser Dan is an entertaining and highly educational, TEKS-aligned experience provided free of charge for all schools. Teachers receive lesson plan suggestions to familiarize students with the content before the day of the performance. After the show, educators receive access to digital resources for follow-up activities to use with their class.

Each student receives a take-home goody bag to help them on their way to becoming a “River Hero” and steward of the Colorado River.
