If you’re looking for an impactful, on-going volunteer placement or a meaningful internship, you might be a great fit for our Mobile River or Redbud Field-Trip Programs. Volunteer teachers (“docents”) in the Redbud program deliver fun, informative lessons to students during field trips – all outside, on the natural grounds of LCRA’s Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education in West Austin. Hands-on activities educate students about water science, groundwater, urban watersheds, water quality, river stewardship, and water conservation. Our volunteers include people from many walks of life – parents, grandparents, working people, retired people, stay-at-home moms and dads, college students, and more.

No experience necessary! This is an opportunity for anyone who is bilingual in English/Spanish and enjoys interacting with young people. Our training and mentoring provide you with all the skills and materials that you need to become an excellent docent. Program hours: Wednesday – Friday during regular business hours, minimum 4-hour commitment once a month.

If you are interested in volunteering in another way, such as Board service, communications support, or graphic design and editing, send us an email, and let’s discuss it.

Join Tributary League

Tributary League members make our programs possible. Our members give students the opportunity to learn about their water resources through a Redbud field trip or a visit from the Mobile River. Our members also support and participate in important discussions about water issues, through programs like our Barstow Speaker Series.

With an annual pledge of $1,000 or more, Tributary League members help ensure the long-term vitality of the Texas Colorado River.
