Development

This in-depth internship opportunity supports day-to-day development workstreams, including development events, creek and river cleanups, and River Society activities. It provides introductory experience in nonprofit development in support of our state’s lifeblood: the Texas Colorado River.

All Alliance interns get to explore the inner workings of a dynamic environmental nonprofit organization, and we reward our hardworking interns with fun team-building activities, networking, and a strong commitment to professional development and advancement.

Now accepting applications for summer and fall semesters.

Internship period: June – December (summer & fall semesters)

Key responsibilities:

  • Support CRA’s annual Gala, Cocktails for the Colorado through event planning support, silent auction management.
  • Assist in identifying and securing in-kind donations for the Cocktails for the Colorado event.
  • Assist in identifying and securing in-kind prize donations for CRA’s annual cleanup event: the Lake Austin Cleanup.
  • Support constituent management through data entry and gift acknowledgement.
  • Support activities of the River Society, the Colorado River Alliance young-professionals group.
  • Support corporate volunteer groups in creek clean up events as needed.
  • Other tasks related to communications, development, and events as required.

Time commitment:

  • Hybrid 10-week internship, with minimum commitment of 10 hours/ week.
  • Flexible between business hours (M-F).
  • Specific work shifts and virtual/ in-person hours can be negotiated. Some evening and weekend hours may be requested for fundraising events or other activities.

Stipend: $1,000 upon successful completion of internship semester.

Reports to: Development and Communications Director

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or completed an undergraduate degree
  • Can commit to 10 hours a week, with potential for some evenings, meetings, and weekends
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skill
  • Ability to complete projects with short turnaround time
  • Solid teamwork skills and ability to work individually
  • Graphic design skills are preferred but not required

About Our Internships

The Colorado River Alliance champions the long-term vitality of the Texas Colorado River through education and engagement. At the Alliance, we believe that a healthy, flowing river is imperative to the long-term well-being of the communities through which it runs.

Our interns gain comprehensive training, professional development consultations with our staff, and networking and resume-building opportunities.

Stipend

All interns will receive a stipend upon successful completion of the internship.

Commitment

All intern positions require a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.

Location

In-person at the Wilkerson Center for Colorado River Education on Lake Austin Blvd. (unless otherwise noted in posting details).

General Qualifications

Spanish proficiency a plus but not required. Pursuing or completed an undergraduate degree. For class credit not required.
