Marble Falls, TX – Seventh-grade students in Marble Falls will kick off the new year learning about water science and the Texas Colorado River through a water-science-based rolling museum coming directly to their school in January.
The Austin-based Colorado River Alliance’s Mobile River Program delivers a message of water stewardship and teaches middle schoolers about their water resources. From January 15th through the 20th, the Mobile River will be at Marble Falls Middle School.
The Mobile River is a STEM-based field trip experience housed in a water-science-center-on-wheels that teaches students and community members to protect and steward water resources. Through videogames and interactive exhibits, students are challenged to consider solutions to correct the mounting challenges of Texas’ water future. The Mobile River also explores the interconnectivity of the Texas Colorado River and how all parts of the basin work together to ensure a healthy, flowing river.
“The adults in communities all along the Colorado River basin understand the importance of the river, and the Colorado River Alliance wants to make sure that the next generation has that understanding as well,” said Alliance Executive Director, Brent Lyles. “Not only are we bringing a state-of-the-art exhibit to these 7th graders, we’re also providing their teachers with curriculum, classroom models, and other tools to help them teach these concepts in the classroom.”
