This spring, The Mobile River traveled up and down the Texas Colorado River basin, connecting students and communities throughout the basin to CRA’s first-of-its-kind, immersive, hands-on water education.
In Matagorda County, 325 middle school students stepped inside CRA’s 42-foot traveling water science center. Inside, students explored the urban water cycle, water quality analysis, conservation training, and population and climate impacts on water resources. Students report this is a super cool way to cover the Texas Education Knowledge Standards (TEKS) for 7th grade science and math curriculum.
The Mobile River then rolled into Kingsland for the 6th Annual Touch-A-Truck event benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of the Highland Lakes, where 213 community members explored the exhibit during a day of interactive family activities.
“The exhibit was awesome and the folks were so nice! The kids loved it!”
— Kathy van Eeten, event organizer and member of the Kingsland Boys & Girls Club Council
From the Gulf Coast to the Highland Lakes, The Mobile River continues connecting Texans to the River that supports our communities every day.
